YLFF-075 "Burga grasslands" New one!

9th May of 2013.

After a workday decided to activate the closest to my QTH YLFF territory. It is only 5.5km from my QTH in stright line. As it is a grassland, there are no big trees on it. So this time my antenna was something like a sloper with one end on a birch tree about 15m high and another fixed some 70m away at the broom on ground level. So the middle of antenna was about 6-7m over the ground and lowest point only 4m high maximum. This was my ever lowest antenna on all my expeditions. Despite this fact, there were even USA callers on 15m band. At the start of operation wind gusts tried to blow my laptop off from the table, while after an hour everything was absolutely quiet and I could hear everything going on in nature around - birds singing, roe buck in bushes some 40m away and so on. The pile-ups were biggest I ever heard during my expeditions. On 30m and 40m working split the callers spread out about 1kHz wide! At the very end of operation in evening twilight some 150m away  a big wild boar came out of bushes. I was working SSB. During my transmission he slowly mowed to my location. When only 50m left and he still was coming, I stood up and shout to him as a meeting with him was not necessary. It was like a train without rails he run away in the wood . Amateurs I worked with told me to bring a gun next time with me....

Totally 245 QSOs were made in some 2,5 hours. The biggest pileups during field expedition ever for me. I was glad for a nicely spent evening.
